Professor John P. DiMoia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Korean History at Seoul National University. He earned his BA in American Literature from Temple University, M. Ed. in linguistics from Temple, MA in American Literature from Georgetown University, and MA and Ph.D. in History of Science from Princeton University. He focuses on medical developmentalism including traditional and biomedical practices in Korea. I had the honor of interviewing Professor DiMoia via email on 14 February 2022. In this interview, he discusses his journey in the field of Korean Studies, shares fascinating insights on his research, and gives advice to individuals who want to become a Koreanist.
