About Me
I was raised in India and the U.S., two countries with varying degrees of interest in Korea. In eighth grade, I accidentally stumbled into Korean dramas through Heirs. Since then, I have been an ardent consumer of Korean media.
Around that time, my American friends just got introduced to Bollywood through me. I noticed that at times, they could not grasp the complexities of a scene from a movie or understand the lyrics from a song because they lacked the background knowledge relating to Indian history, cultural and societal values, politics, etc. This made me realize that I am like my American friends – appreciative of a different culture but unable to recognize the full significance of it due to some of the limitations mentioned above. Hence, I decided to learn about Korea and the Korean language.

At UC Berkeley, I pursued a BA in Global Studies, with a concentration in Global Societies and Cultures, and a focus on Asia. I also minored in Korean. At UCLA, I earned a MA in East Asian Studies specializing in American and Indian fandoms within the Korean entertainment industry. I created this website with the intention to explore, appreciate, and respect various facets of Korea, especially entertainment.
