Dr. Jennifer Jung-Kim is a continuing lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) currently teaching classes ranging from Korean history, politics, popular culture, gender dynamics to East Asia and Asian America. She is also an instructor at the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), which is operated by the Korean government's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Dr. Jung-Kim earned her BA in Oriental Studies from Barnard College of Columbia University (Barnard), an MA in Korean Literature and Cultural History, and Ph.D. in Korean Cultural History from UCLA. I interviewed her on 7 October 2020 through email. This interview details Dr. Jung-Kim’s journey as an academic focusing on Korea, her teaching experiences, and aspirations in the field of Korean studies.
